CHS 709 - Epidemiologic Research Design and Planning (3 units) Epidemiological concepts and methods in the context of developing skills in general epidemiological study design and proposal writing. (Formerly PUBH 709; implementation Fall 2009)
Corequisite(s): CHS 712 .
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered Every Spring Student Learning Outcomes (if available): Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to evaluate a public health problem, choose and justify appropriate measurements and statistics. 2. Students will be able to choose and justify appropriate study designs, and methods to mitigate threats to validity (confounders, bias) 3. Students will be able to demonstrate effective written skills and development of a budget. 4. Students will be able to compare and contrast different measurements scales, and judge and recommend basic ethical and legal principles. 5. Students will be able to evaluate causal inference and statistical hypothesis testing, and threats to validity.
