ECON 461 - Chinese Economy (3 units) Historical examination of China’s economic development, with a special emphasis on its varying development strategies, and its future prospects. (General Capstone and Diversity course.)
Prerequisite(s): ECON 100 or ECON 102 ; CH 201 or CH 202 or CH 203 ; ENG 102 ; junior or senior standing.
Units of Lecture: 3 General Capstone Course, Diversity Course Student Learning Outcomes (if available): Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the economic history of China, including knowledge of how history, culture, and politics interact with the economic system. 2. Students will be able to show that they can apply their understanding of China’s economic institutions and policies to China’s past and future relationship with the United States. 3. Students will be able to demonstrate an ability to collect, analyze and present data on Chinese economic performance. 4. Students will be able to produce an original and well-written research paper on a topic related to Chinese economic policies and performance, and present their finding to the class.
