HDFS 470 - Preprofessional Internship (2 to 8 units) Supervised field experience with one or more community agencies or family services. Includes seminar. Maximum of 8 credits.
Prerequisite(s): Senior status in HDFS.
Units of Internship/Practicum: 2-8 Offered Every Fall and Spring Student Learning Outcomes (if available): Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to evaluate potential career choices and further define career goals. 2. Students will be able to apply profession interview techniques and resume writing skills. 3. Students will be able to identify, assess, and develop personal and professional strengths, and areas in need of professional development. 4. Students will be able to utilize communication and interpersonal skills, academic knowledge, and professionalism to identify and resolve problems or conflicts that occur in a professional setting. 5. Students will be able to recognize certain situations, behavior, interactions, and developmental responses during the internship that relate to knowledge gained in the classroom.
