MSE 430 - Phase Transformations and Kinetics (3 units) Equilibrium and non-equilibrium thermodynamics of material phases, phase transformations, and diffusional transport processes in (and between) solids, liquids and gases.
Prerequisite(s): MSE 361 or CHE 311 or ME 311 . Corequisite: MATH 285 . Recommended preparation: ENGR 360 .
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered Every Fall Student Learning Outcomes (if available): Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering to problems in materials science and engineering. 2. Students will be able to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems in materials and applications. 3. Students will have the ability to use modern technical techniques, skills, and tools necessary for engineering practice.
