MUSE 133 - Jazz Combo (1 unit) Performing ensemble emphasizing improvisation in a small group context. Maximum of 8 credits. (Formerly MUS 235; implemented Fall 2004.)
Units of Laboratory/Studio: 1 Core Fine Arts Requirement Offered Every Fall and Spring Student Learning Outcomes (if available): Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to demonstrate professional ethics and conduct, through prompt and accurate preparation of assigned repertoire, and adherence to attendance policy. 2. Students will be able to demonstrate technical competency as ensemble and solo performers through the performance of accurate notes and rhythms, and skills such as listening, tuning, blending and balancing, and playing/singing together. 3. Students will be able to demonstrate expressive competency through skills such as appropriate articulation/style, phrasing, and pacing of musical energy. 4. Students will be able to make musical decisions based on the context of listening, history, performance practice, and music theory. 5. Students will be able to demonstrate an appreciation of aesthetic experience through music performance and literature.
