THTR 481 - History of Theatre I (3 units) Theatrical art from its beginning to 1642. (General Capstone course.)
Prerequisite(s): CH 201 or CH 202 or CH 203 ; ENG 102 ; junior or senior standing.
Units of Lecture: 3 General Capstone Course Offered Every Fall Student Learning Outcomes (if available): Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to explain major trends in global theatre history from antiquity to the seventeenth century. 2. Students will be able to situate theatre movements within their social, political, and cultural contexts. 3. Students will be able to pose and assess questions about the making of theatre history, identifying cultural constructs that factor into that production. 4. Students will be able to explain the relationship between the development of traditional theatre forms and their performance today. 5. Students will be able to compare theatre history movements from different areas of the world.
