CHS 758 - Information Systems in Health Services Management

Investigates management information systems in health administration/clinical services. Includes electronic medical records, clinical information systems, management and decision-making technologies.

Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to communicate health policy and management issues using appropriate channels and information system technologies.
2. Students will be able to discuss the influences of social, organizational and individual factors on the use of information technology by administrative and clinical end users.
3. Students will be able to collaborate with users of communication and informatics specialists in the process of design, implementation, and evaluation of health services programs.
4. Students will be able to use information technology for Quality Improvement to assess, evaluate, and interpret health services and patient data.
5. Students will be able to use informatics methods and resources as strategic tools to assist communities in understanding health services.
6. Students will be able to use informatics and communication methods for Quality Improvement of health services.
7. Students will be able to discuss and apply “systems thinking” for resolving organizational problems.
