ANTH 202 - Archaeology (3 units) CO6 Uses of archaeology to understand and interpret major stages of human cultural development from beginnings to first civilizations.
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall and Spring Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to outline the basic history of the development archaeological inquiry. 2. Students will be able to describe the theoretical, epistemological, and methodological problems associated with doing archaeological research. 3. Students will be able to interpret findings from key archaeological sites and research. 4. Students will be able to link archaeological interpretations to changes in human culture and behavior. 5. Students will be able to evaluate the way changes in material culture and culture more generally correspond to and operate within ecological, cultural and historical contexts.
