CEE 481 - Structural Steel Design (3 units) Load-resistance factored design of steel structures including beams, columns, beam-columns, tension members and connections. A design project with a written report is included.
Prerequisite(s): ENG 102 ; CH 201 or CH 202 or CH 203 or CH 212 ; CEE 381 with a “C” or better; ENGR 301 ; Junior or Senior standing.
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will have an ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability. 2. Students will have an ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems. 3. Students will have an understanding of professional and ethical responsibility. 4. Students will have an ability to communicate effectively. 5. Students will have an ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.
