CHE 311 - Engineering Thermodynamics I (3 units) Principles of engineering thermodynamics. A study of the first and second laws, entropy, ideal and real gases, and second-law analysis of engineering systems. (CHE 311 and ME 311 are cross-listed; credit may be earned in one of the two.)
Prerequisite(s): PHYS 181 with a “C” or better and CHEM 121A with a “C” or better or CHEM 201 . Corequisite(s): PHYS 181 for CHE majors.
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall and Spring Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will have an ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering. 2. Students will have an ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems. 3. Students will have an ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.
