CHS 739 - Cancer Epidemiology (3 units) Fundamental concepts of cancer epidemiology including descriptive epidemiology carcinogenesis, incidence and mortality, site-specific risk factors and cancer control and prevention.
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall - Even Years Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to describe the history, principals, goals, and methods used in Cancer Epidemiology. 2. Students will be able to critically evaluate and synthesize scientific literature. 3. Students will be able to evaluate, justify, and apply appropriate methodological and analytical approaches to address public health research questions in Cancer Epidemiology. 4. Students will be able to effectively defend research methodology and findings through concise scientific writing and oral presentations. 5. Students will be able to interpret results from statistical analyses of epidemiologic studies. 6. Students will be able to examine biologic models of disease etiololgy.
