Introduction to the world’s development problems such as population, food, scarcity of nonrenewable resources, growing inequality between nations and within nations, possible socioeconomic consequences of those problems.
Prerequisite(s): ECON 102 ; ECON 103 .

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to analyze different theories regarding economic development.
2. Students will be able to apply theories of economic development to different countries.
3. Students will be able to analyze the experience of economic development in different countries and the impact on different groups within those countries, especially non-western countries.
4. Students will be able to discuss the relation of economic development to growing inequality between nations and within nations, possible socioeconomic consequences of those problems.
5. Students will be able to describe the world’s development problems such as population, food, scarcity of nonrenewable resources.
