EDSP 472 - Typical and Atypical Development of the Young Child

Sequences and processes of development from pre-birth to age 7. Emphasis on impact of at-risk/disabling conditions on the development of young children.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to describe factors during critical periods of development, which contribute ?to risk for developmental difficulties and disabling conditions.
2. Students will be able to apply theoretical models to explain development in various areas such ?as cognition, social/emotional, communication, and motor.
3. Students will be able to describe sequences, characteristics, and interrelationships in early development across each of the developmental domains.
4. Students will be able to demonstrate an ability to read current research and interpret results and ?implications for teachers and families of young children with disabilities.
