EDSP 676 - Curriculum & Intervention ECSE: Birth-3 (3 units) Intervention methods and strategies for young children birth to three with special needs and their families, with emphasis on family centered approaches. Includes practicum.
Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to develop detailed instructional plans for individuals with severe disabilities in various curriculum domains ensuring that these plans embed basic skills such as communication, social, and motor skills into natural routines and activities as well as facilitate access to the general education curriculum. 2. Students will be able to implement instructional plans and demonstrate competence in systematic instruction through the use of prompting procedures and feedback procedures. 3. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of importance of monitoring student progress and will implement data-based instructional plans where data are used to make needed modifications in instructional plans. 4. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of assistive technology and adaptations? including application of adaptations related to different levels of symbol understanding (e.g., objects, photos, line drawings) needed to enhance participation of students with severe disabilities across curriculum domains.
