EDSP 718 - Assessment of Infants/Preschoolers with Special Needs

(3 units)
Assessment of cognitive, physical, communication, social, and self-help skills of infants, toddlers, and young children with special needs. Includes assessment practicum.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of the goals, benefits, and uses of assessment for young children with special needs as demonstrated through the students’ participation in discussions and performance on exams.
2. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge about and use observation, documentation, and other appropriate assessment tools and approaches by creating and completing a case study of a young child.
3. Students will be able to recognize assessments need to be individualized and appropriate for the child and family and provide information for intervention by reviewing, analyzing, and critiquing two assessment instruments.
