ENG 297 - Reading and Interpreting (3 units) Methods for creating personal, critical responses to literature representing a range of time periods and genres.
Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to analyze a broad range of specific literary genres (e.g., poetry, drama, fiction, nonfiction) and historical periods (e.g., Early Modern, Romanticism, Naturalism). 2. Students will be able to employ literary terminology appropriate to the study of various genres. 3. Students will be able to articulate the relationships among authors, texts, and readers. 4. Students will be able to engage in close reading and critical interpretation of a wide range of texts across different genres.
