GEOL 212 - Earth Mat & Geochem II (3 units) Petrology of the important rock types; rock identification and classification; phase equilibria; relationships between rock types and tectonics. Weekend field trips.
Prerequisite(s): GEOL 211 .
Units of Lecture: 2 Units of Laboratory/Studio: 1 Offered: Every Spring Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to identify common sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks in hand sample. 2. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of the key rock-forming processes. 3. Students will be able to understand and apply introductory geochemistry to petrologic study.
