GER 112 - Elementary German II

Introduction to the language through the development of language skills and through structural analysis. Includes an introduction to German culture.

Prerequisite(s): GER 111 .

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to describe their own living situations in terms of personal possessions and their physical arrangement.
2. Students will be able to read and interpret short texts using the simple past tense.
3. Students will be able to identify geographical features and their cultural aspects for their own region, German-speaking Europe, and the world.
4. Students will be able to give directions within their cities and homes.
5. Students will be able to produce orally and in written form their desires and preferences.
6. Students will be able to express hypothetical situations about their present and future life.
7. Students will be able to use practical vocabulary for travel, automobiles, animals, personal health matters, and emergencies.
8. Students will be able to compare US and German-speaking cultures in general terms of food, cooking, and the arts.
