HDFS 630 - Advanced Studies in Human Sexuality

Exploration of masculine and feminine roles as they relate to human development, personal functioning, interpersonal relations and family living in a complex, changing society.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to develop an awareness of the wide range of human sexual behaviors.
2. Students will be able to develop an understanding of and analyze accurate information and values regarding your personal sexual value system and integrating it into your personality.
3. Students will be able to talk more openly and comfortably about sexuality and give the correct information regarding issues of sexuality to others.
4. Students will be able to demonstrate acceptance, not judgment, of the sexual value system of others and listen to the sexual concerns of others.
5. Students will be able to develop an understanding of different lifestyles and sexual orientations, and compare and contrast lifestyles and sexual orientations.
6. Students will be able to develop critical thinking skills while reviewing the cultural influences of sexual behavior.
7. Students will be able to develop personal and professional growth, applying issues from class to professional and career related demands.
8. Students will be able to demonstrate a willingness to learn and be compassionate towards those who may not have had as much experience in something as you have.
