HIST 618 - History of the U.S.-American Indian Relations

U.S. government relations with tribes and inter-tribal relations from colonial times into the 20th century with emphasis upon constitutional questions.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to analyze and interpret primary sources about Native America by means of discussion, essays, and research projects.
2. Students will be able to identify and analyze the arguments, main points, and use of evidence in secondary sources by means of discussion, essays, and research projects.
3. Students will be able to explain U.S.-American Indian relations, and how Native American society, culture, and politics have changed over time, through discussions and essay exams.
