IS 201 - Computer Applications (3 units) Advanced topics in spreadsheets, microcomputer-based database management systems and macro-programming.
Prerequisite(s): IS 101 .
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall, Spring, and Summer Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to define a business-related application system and categorize systems by size and complexity. 2. Students will be able to describe the steps required to develop a technology-based business-related application system. 3. Students will be able to explain the characteristics of effective computer technology supported information visualization methods. 4. Students will be able to describe how technology-based data storage methods affect the display of information. 5. Students will be able to identify the data necessary to be stored in an application system from existing reports and forms. 6. Students will be able to design a database for a small business-related application system. 7. Students will be able to use two software packages (Microsoft’s Excel and Access) to create small business-related application systems.
