MATH 96A - Intermediate Algebra - Basic Properties

Basic properties of the real numbers; problem solving, linear equations. Graphing functions. (Credit does not apply to any baccalaureate degree program.) (Departmental consent is required to drop this course.)

Prerequisite(s): ACT math score of 19, or SAT math score of 470, or revised SAT math score of 510, or satisfactory score on an appropriate placement test as determined by the Math & Stat Department, or MATH 95 .

Grading Basis: S/U only
Offered: Every Fall, Spring, and Summer
Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to demonstrate their understanding of the importance of the correct order of operations by evaluating expressions, either in writing or verbally when called upon in class, as to the application of the correct order of operations. 
2. Students will be able to demonstrate their ability to simplify algebraic expressions when called upon in class, or in writing, or both.
3. Students will be able to demonstrate their understanding of how to simplify exponential expressions through application of rules of exponents.
