PSC 404B - Public Personnel Administration (3 units) Methods of recruiting, examining, training and other techniques utilized in the management of employees in government service.
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to outline fundamentals of the principles and practices of Public Human Resource Management. 2. Students will be able to identify the main stages of administrative reforms related to public personnel administration. 3. Students will be able to compare and contrast for the roles of managers and practitioners in the field of public personnel administration. 4. Students will be able to develop critical thinking skills in application to real life problems in area of public personnel administration. 5. Students will be able to write job descriptions and specifications using traditional and contemporary approach to job design in the public sector. 6. Students will be able to integrate learned PHRM concepts in their future management careers in public and nonprofit organizations.
