Varieties of religious expression: belief, ritual, scripture, art. Religious issues: God, death, evil, salvation. Methods of studying religion.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to identify and contrast the diverse belief systems represented in major world religions.
2. Students will be able to describe the development and practice of ethical principles within a particular religious community.
3. Students will be able to analyze “religion” as a fundamental element of human intellectual, cultural and social life, and history.
4. Students will be able to define and explore religious issues, such as the existence and nature of God, life and death, good and evil, the just construction of society, sexuality, etc.
5. Students will be able to define and explore the varieties of religious expression, including ritual and prayer.
