Selected topics in political sociology. Theories of the state and analysis of its origins, development, and role in society.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to identify the major theories of political power and the state and apply them to past and current societies.
2. Students will be able to articulate the relationship between social class and political power through an examination of major institutions in society.
3. Students will be able to apply their knowledge of political processes to the study of the state in various societies around the world.
