SOC 735 - Social Norms and Deviance (3 units) An examination of social psychological processes related to the influence of social norms on behavior.
Prerequisite(s): Admission to doctoral program in psychology.
Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to identify and compare the dominant theories on social deviance and conformity. 2. Students will be able to critically assess the value of the theoretical perspectives on conformity and deviance as they relate to class, race and gender. 3. Students will be able to critically analyze the applicability of theoretical perspectives to contemporary and historical forms of social deviance and conformity.
