Traditional and psycholinguistic approaches to language and speech development in children.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to provide a definition of language and in each of the five areas of language.
2. Students will be able to summarize the stages of development in each of the five areas of language.
3. Students will be able to understand the grammatical aspect of language and analyze the basic syntactic structure of a sentence.
4. Students will be able to identify the relationship between cognition and language and discuss four basic theories underlying this relationship.
