CHS 756 - Organizational Behavior and Leadership in Health Services

Investigates the impact that individuals, groups, structure, and leadership have on behavior within organizations. Application of this knowledge is used for advancing the effectiveness of health services.

Prerequisite(s): CHS 755.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to assess quality and performance improvement concepts to address organizational performance issues.
2. Students will be able to propose “systems thinking” for resolving organizational problems.
3. Students will be able to prescribe the importance and characteristics of a sustainable diverse public health workforce.
4. Students will be able to role model leadership traits of transparency, integrity, and honesty in all actions.
5. Students will be able to role model strategies, to motivate others for collaborative problem solving, decision-making, and evaluation.
6. Students will be able to critique in writing or, if called upon, verbally his or her understanding of the implications that knowledge workers have for the contemporary workforce.
