ENG 437 - Topics in Film Studies (3 units)
Allows students to study a topic in Film Studies in-depth. Students are expected to engage in advanced film historical or theoretical study. Subject varies from semester to semester.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to critically discuss and write about the development of movements and innovations in film and media.
2. Students will be able to demonstrate specialized knowledge of selected film genres and film cycles.
3. Students will be able to illustrate an advanced understanding of key concepts in Film Studies, including film theory.
4. Students will be able to apply techniques of critical film analysis and film theory to study and interpret film in the context of culture, society, and individual identity.
