GRC 220 - Graphic Design 1 (3 units) CO7
Introduction to the fundamentals of design thinking, tool and software development, and creative expression. Apply design thinking using digital and traditional tools.
Prerequisite(s): GRC 116 ; GRC 200 . Corequisite(s): ART 100 or ART 101 or ART 141 ; ART 260 ; ART 261 ; GRC 210 .

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. use design thinking in response to visual communication problems that lead to well-grounded and creative conclusions. (CO7)
2. produce well-supported positions that thoroughly and respectfully consider alternative viewpoints in class discussion, critique, and written assignment. (CO1, CO3, and CO7)
3. recognize the design process from sketch phase to final printed product. (CO7)
4. identify and articulate historical achievements, current major issues, processes, and directions in graphic design. (CO7)
5. apply intermediate design software skills. (CO7)
