PHAR 330 - Autonomic, Cardiovascular, and Renal Pharmacology

Introduction to autonomic nervous system, cardiovascular, and renal function. Basic principles of pharmacologic agent action in the treatment of autonomic, cardiovascular and renal system disease states.

Prerequisite(s): BIOL 191A ; CHEM 242  or CHEM 342 . Recommended Preparation: PHAR 210; PHAR 320 .

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. describe the functional properties of the autonomic nervous system, its role in homeostasis, and how pharmacologic agents affect autonomic function.
2. explain the basic principles of cardiovascular and renal function, and how pharmacologic agents can be used in treating disease states of these systems.
3. critically appraise original scientific literature describing advances in autonomic, cardiovascular, and renal pharmacology.
