Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate ability to design experimental strategies using state-of-the-art methods/approaches to address biological questions through written examinations. 2. demonstrate a working understanding of advanced topics in molecular genetics through written examinations and in-class discussions. 3. demonstrate ability to critically evaluate the salient points of primary research articles through written and oral summaries. 4. abiltily to summarize a research paper from the primary literature and effectively lead a discussion of the paper. 5. demonstrate a working knowledge of advanced topics in functional genomics and systems biology and the ability to effectively lead a discussion about a specific area of research through oral presentations and in-depth discussions.
