BIOL 633 - Ornithology (3 units) Origins, evolution, taxonomy, biogeography, morphology, physiology, behavior and ecology of birds.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate knowledge of avian morphology, physiology, evolution and ecology in a series of in-class objective exams. 2. develop critical thinking skills by understanding the relationships between bird structure, function and evolutionary history. 3. develop their scientific writing skills in a series of take-home essays while demonstrating their understanding of specific topics in avian biology. 4. synthesize orally or in writing as assessed by a presentation and/or written report significance of current topic as presented in this course.
