This course explores the role of cultural, behavioral and social dynamics in public health research, theory, and practice.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. discuss means by which structural bias, social inequities and racism undermine health and create challenges to achieving health equity at organizational, community and societal levels.
2. assess population need, assets and capacities that affect communities’ health.
3. apply awareness of cultural values and practices to design or implementation of public health polocies or programs.
4. design a population-based policy, program, project or intervention.
5. describe the importance of cultural competence in communicating public health content.
6. apply systems thinking tools to a public health issue.
