CRJ 417 - Police in the Cinema (3 units) Examination of the portrayal of the police in several classic films. Topics include police isolation, social demands, corruption and salvation, and legal ramifications.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. articulate the common themes found across police movies such as salvation, personal dilemmas, and temptation. 2. compare different cinematic styles portrayed in police movies. 3. differentiate between the cinematic portrayal of police officers as crime-fighters, heroes, or deviants.
