Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. use appropriate assessments to explain the learning needs of and craft specific learning goals for K–12 students. 2. design and implement individualized strategy lessons (including finding and/or developing appropriate reading materials) that build upon readers’ strengths and assist in overcoming challenges. 3. apply foundational reading theories in a variety of instructional contexts. 4. plan for and provide a literate environment, including multimodal activities, instructional strategies, materials, media, etc., which encourages literacy-learning for students, regardless of ethnic background, gender, or disabilities. 5. synthesize assessment and instructional information in reports to communicate with a variety of audiences (e.g., parents, teachers, students, administrators, etc.).
