EDRL 701 - Field Work and Clinical Practice in Reading

Practice in reading with emphasis upon clinical diagnosis, prognosis and remediation.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. use appropriate assessments to explain the learning needs of and craft specific learning goals for K–12 students.
2. design and implement individualized strategy lessons (including finding and/or developing appropriate reading materials) that build upon readers’ strengths and assist in overcoming challenges.
3. apply foundational reading theories in a variety of instructional contexts.
4. plan for and provide a literate environment, including multimodal activities, instructional strategies, materials, media, etc., which encourages literacy-learning for students, regardless of ethnic background, gender, or disabilities.
5. synthesize assessment and instructional information in reports to communicate with a variety of audiences (e.g., parents, teachers, students, administrators, etc.).
