EDSC 659 - Technology Applications in Secondary Mathematics (3 units) Exploration of appropriate technological teaching tools including geometry software, algebra software, and graphing calculators. Pedagogies for the implementation of these tools will be considered.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. plan effective mathematics lessons for the 7th-12th grade classroom that incorporate the appropriate use of calculators. 2. effectively utilize statistics software and geometry software in the development of lessons for teaching mathematics at the secondary level. 3. evaluate the efficacy of a variety of software packages, virtual manipulatives, websites, and applets in the teaching of secondary mathematics. 4. discuss and interpret current research related to the use of technology in the teaching of mathematics.
