GEOL 202 - Sedimentology and Stratigraphy (4 units) Introduction to sedimentary processes, sedimentary rocks and the principles of stratigraphy, including dating, correlation and reconstruction of past environments.
Prerequisite(s): GEOL 101 ; GEOL 102 .
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Units of Laboratory/Studio: 1 Offered: Every Fall
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. identify common sedimentary rocks and rock-forming minerals. 2. identify and interpret the fabric of sedimentary rocks, and the processes that made them. 3. demonstrate understanding of process-based models of various environments where sediments are deposited.
