GEOL 212 - Earth Materials & Geochemistry II (3 units) Petrology of the important rock types; rock identification and classification; phase equilibria; relationships between rock types and tectonics. Weekend field trips.
Prerequisite(s): GEOL 211 .
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 2 Units of Laboratory/Studio: 1 Offered: Every Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. identify common sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks in hand sample. 2. demonstrate understanding of the key rock-forming processes. 3. understand and apply introductory geochemistry to petrologic study.
