HIST 395 - Russian History to 1900 (3 units)
Rise of Kievan Rus, Mongol invasions, medieval Muscovy, Peter the Great and modern Imperial Russia. Emergence of dissent and the Russian revolutionary movement.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. analyze, evaluate, and interpret primary sources.
2. analyze and clearly explain the argument, main points, and use of evidence in secondary sources.
3. clearly and effectively articulate an original interpretation in verbal and written form.
4. identify key events, issues, and policies related to rise of Kievan Russia, including Mongol invasions, medieval Muscovy, Peter the Great and modern Imperial Russia.
