Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. explain how U.S. power in the Pacific world has changed over time.
2. critically examine how ideas, perceptions, and cultural frameworks have shaped the way in which the United States and Americans have encountered and interacted with Asia and Asians.
3. identify, analyze and interpret how those transpacific encounters shaped U.S. culture, society, and politics.
4. analyze and interpret primary sources in different forms, including documents, film, popular media, and photographs.
5. critically read secondary sources and identify the argument and use of evidence.
6. construct an original historical argument and logically support it with evidence from primary and secondary sources.
7. articulate your argument in verbal and written form.
