HIST 439 - Religion and Society in Latin America (3 units) Historical roots and practices of Native American and African folk religions. Political role of Catholic Church and Protestantism.
Prerequisite(s): ENG 102 ; CH 201 or CH 202 or CH 203 or CH 212 ; Junior or Senior standing.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. analyze, evaluate, and interpret primary sources. 2. analyze and clearly explain the argument, main points, and use of evidence in secondary sources. 3. clearly and effectively articulate an original interpretation in verbal and written form. 4. identify nand analyze the roots and practices of Native American and African folk religions, including the political role of the Catholic Church and Protestantism.
