Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate understanding of the reciprocal relationship between psychology and law. 2. demonstrate understanding of how psychology affects the law, the legal system, and legal actors (e.g., jurors, police officers). 3. demonstrate understanding of how the legal system affects psychology in return (e.g., how laws affect behavior). 4. explain the use of psychological concepts, methods, and research results in law. 5. explain the basic dilemmas that persist in the legal system and the ethical, moral, legal, and “gray areas” of the law. 6. demonstrate understanding of how psychology plays a part in influencing legal decisions, policies, and practices.
