MIL 204 - Basic Camp (2 units) Basic Camp produces a Cadet grounded in foundational leadership doctrine and skills by following and leading, who demonstrates proficiency in individual and collective tasks at the team and squad level.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. discuss how the principles of joint operations are formed around the traditional principles of war. 2. articulate the definition, purpose and contents of Army Doctrine and Symbology. 3. discuss the elements and characteristics of Unified Land Operations and Warfighting Functions. 4. demonstrate their understanding of the offense as a component of Unified Land operations: its characteristics, its associated tasks, and its purposes. 5. discuss the defense as a component of Unified Land operations. 6. discuss the concepts of Army Leader ethics by examining leader case studies. 7. apply the concepts of the Law of Land Warfare utilizing case studies of actual situations. 8. discuss the tactical aspects of the Army Values and Warrior Ethos. 9. describe the levels and components of culture, factors influencing culture, obstacles to cultural understanding, cultural sensitivity, and the impacts of culture on military operations. 10. articulate the definitions and procedures of each of the terrorism threat levels, force protection conditions, four themes of level 1 anti-terrorism, and the fundamentals of situational awareness. 11. discuss the military’s emergency preparedness program. 12. demonstrate their understanding of group and team dynamics and team development. 13. describe the characteristics and elements of the Cadet Officer Evaluation Report System (COERs). 14. effectively counsel individuals; identify common triggers of suicide, risk factors of suicide, symptoms of depression, myths about suicide, warning signs of suicide, and take appropriate action in response to an at-risk individual.
