MUS 253 - Jazz Improvisation I (2 units) Performance-oriented study of the basic techniques of improvisation in the jazz idiom.
Prerequisite(s): MUS 204 .
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 2 Offered: Every Fall
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. aurally identify many of the great jazz improvisors of the past and present. 2. demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the basic scales and chords used in jazz improvisation. 3. memorize and perform several basic jazz tunes.
