MUS 385 - String Class Methods (2 units) Elementary instruction in violin, viola, cello and bass.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. develop skills in the art of teaching instruments in the string family. They will learn information applicable to all string instruments, such as basic principles of sound production and musicality, and will be introduced to standard pedagogical literature and its use. 2. demonstrate pedagogical skills as they troubleshoot particular problems encountered in playing and teaching string instruments. 3. develop intermediate-level playing skills on instruments in the string family. In addition to the experience of playing, this portion is also useful for educators in knowing how to assist their string students.
