Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. discuss the historical evolution of the nursing profession. 2. discuss the characteristics of professional nursing. 3. explore nursing as a profession within the contemporary healthcare system. 4. identify personal strengths and opportunities for growth that would affect his/her ability to work in the nursing profession. 5. identify the scope of nursing practice, the education and training required and the professional standards for nursing. 6. describe the benefit of belonging to a professional organization.
