PHYS 740 - Fluid Dynamics (3 units) Properties of fluids, equations or motion, ideal and viscous fluid flow, Navier-Stokes equation; potential theory, fundamental theorems of fluid flow; surface waves; boundary layers.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall - Odd Years
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. discuss the physical properties of fluids and use this knowledge to solve problems in fluid dynamics. 2. compare and contrast ideal and viscous fluid flow. 3. apply potential theory, and fundamental theorems of fluid flow and describe the phenomena of surface waves and boundary layers.
