MED 624 - Advanced Clinical Skills - Spring (0 units) A combination of classroom and small group instruction focusing on the practice and acquisition of advanced medical clinical skills. Limited to M.D. students.
Grading Basis: Medical Offered: Every Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate principles of professionalism and effective communication skills during all professional encounters, incluidng those with patients, families, colleagues and other health professionals. 2. demonstrate the clinical skills necessary to perform a complete and focused patient history and physical exam. 3. integrate ethical principles and practices, humanistic medicine and professionalism into a practical approach to patient care. 4. integrate psychological, social, and spiritual aspects with medical factors in the conceptualization and delivery of patient care (BPSS Model). 5. integrate basic science knowledge with clinical skills, professionalism, problem solving, and communication skills to demonstrate an understanding of the process of working through clinical cases. 6. demonstrate the clinical skills necessary to be able to fully participate in real-world clinical experiences of the clerkships.
