EDSP 681 - Characteristics and Needs of Gifted and Talented Students (3 units) Historical and cultural perspectives and current research relevant to social and emotional issues of gifted students. Topics include perfectionism, over-sensitivities, gender, underachievement, and special populations.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Summer
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. engage in discussion related to the multiple topics associated with characteristics and needs of gifted students. 2. identify findings from select researchers, theorists, and educational leaders who are actively involved in promoting the affective component of gifted education. 3. design an analysis of gifted learners from a multi-lens perspective. 4. design and present an overview of a workshop for preservice teachers on understanding the needs and characteristics of gifted and talented students.
